Kibble Track ("the app") is an Android app for keeping your pets' care records: meals, medications, vaccines, vet visits, weight, a daily log, reminders, documents and contacts. This policy explains what happens to that information.
Information the app collects
None. The app has no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no crash-reporting service. Everything you enter, including photos and files you attach, is stored only on your device.
The app uses the internet only for your kennel: Share with my kennel and Request a stay, when you tap Send, and, while a stay request is waiting for the kennel's answer, a quick check for that answer when you open the app, and to read the list of services your kennel offers (see below). It never goes online for anything else.
When information leaves your device
Only when you choose:
- Sharing a PDF. When you share a Pet Passport, vet visit summary or care sheet, Android's share sheet sends it to the app and person you pick (for example email or text messages).
- Backup files. When you save a backup, the file goes where you choose (for example your Downloads folder or a cloud drive).
- Android backup. If Android backup is on for your phone, Android includes the app's data in your phone's backup to your own Google account, and restores it on a new phone. Google's handling of that backup is covered by Google's Privacy Policy. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings.
- Share with my kennel. If your boarding kennel or daycare uses Kibble Desk, you can send them the pets you pick: each pet's details and photo, vaccines with their certificate files, feeding, medications, vet, and the name and phone number you enter. Before anything leaves your phone it is encrypted with the kennel's own key, taken from the code you scan at the kennel, so only that kennel's Kibble Desk computer can open it. It travels through the Kibble Desk relay run by Twisted Head Media (relay.twistedheadmedia.com), which cannot read it, keeps it only until the kennel's computer collects it (at most 14 days), and then deletes it. The relay's web server sees your phone's IP address while it delivers, as any web server does, and uses it only to limit abuse. What the kennel does with your pet's records is up to the kennel.
- Stay requests. When you ask a kennel for a stay, the dates, your notes and the pet's current profile go to that kennel the same way, sealed so only its Kibble Desk computer can open them. Your phone also makes a one-time mailbox id and key; the kennel seals its answer (confirmed, waitlisted or declined, and the run) with that key, and the relay holds it until Kibble Track collects it when you next open the app (at most 60 days). The relay can't read the answer.
- What your kennel offers. After you scan a kennel's code, Kibble Track reads that kennel's public list of services (name, phone, address, services and prices, as the kennel wrote them) from the Kibble Desk relay, and checks it again now and then so new services show up. Only the kennel's code is sent to ask for it; nothing about you or your pets. The list is signed by the kennel, so Kibble Track can tell it wasn't changed on the way.
- Pet files. "Share as a file" makes a .kibblepet file for each pet you pick and sends it through Android's share sheet to the app and person you choose. These files are not encrypted, so send them only to your kennel.
- Scanning. The document scanner and the kennel-code scanner are Google's on-device ML Kit scanners, provided through Google Play services. Pages and codes are processed on your device. The app switches off ML Kit's usage logging.
Purchases
None. Kibble Track is free, with nothing to buy, so it never asks Google Play about purchases or payment details.
Crash reports
We see aggregated crash and performance reports that Google Play Console provides to developers ("Android vitals"), which do not identify you.
Children
Kibble Track is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Deleting your data
Delete a pet in the app to delete its records and files, or uninstall the app to delete everything. We hold no copy, so there is nothing to request from us. Profiles you sent to a kennel are the kennel's records from then on; ask the kennel to delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
